How to Whiten your Teeth Yourself and Other Uses for Peroxide

I heard a couple years ago you can hold a small amount of peroxide in your mouth for 10 minutes per day to whiten teeth.  I do it routinely and it really does work - my husband really noticed.  It actually says on the bottle you can use it for a mouthwash.  You probably wonder if you will swallow it  but  it turns to foam in your mouth so it is easy to not swallow it - and you use a very small amount.  You will figure out how much is comfortable for you to use after a few times.  In addition to whitening your teeth, it helps with bacteria in your mouth and helps heal and prevent canker sores.  My favorite use for peroxide is to whiten my teeth, but there are so many uses for it that is hard to believe it is so inexpensive.  I use it to soak all the pieces of our Sonicare tooth brushes.  Yes, I use a Sonicare tooth-brush.  That and the peroxide have helped me keep my teeth so white and plaque free that the dentist doesn't even mention my needing a tooth cleaning when I see her.  Before I really started taking care of my natural dentures, every time I went to the dentist they wanted me to schedule having my teeth cleaned.  I hate the process and this is so easy and takes so little time.  I brush my teeth per the directions which come with the Sonicare, for the full two minutes and at the angles they recommend.  And I hold the peroxide in my mouth while I either pick out what clothes I am going to wear for the day, or flat-iron my hair, or make the bed and pick up, or shave my legs in the shower...  It does not take any time out of your routine and white teeth help you retain some of your youth!
I have always used peroxide for any cut or scratch I get which starts to turn red or hurts more than it should - usually means infection is starting.  I do this several times - until it bubbles less or not at all - and 4 to 5 times per day.   It helps the injury to heal with less scaring than when the infection is left untreated.  At the same time I first heard about using peroxide to make those old pearly whites look better, I also heard about using it to get blood out of your laundry items and to clean your wooden cutting board.  I use CitraSolv for blood stains and bleach for the cutting board but I am going to try peroxide for these uses as well.  I just wish it came in a larger bottle, say a gallon size.  Wonder why the producers of peroxide have not picked up on all these uses - maybe they will read this and we will see gallon bottles of it some day.
